The SRT Series: Part one

This post is part one of a series I am going to write about the SRT versions of several Dodge, and Jeep vehicles there are out there. These auto-makers took regular models that they produced and began releasing performance versions into production. The great thing about these cars and trucks is that they're not all that expensive, but they provide a rush of speed that an exotic sports car would.

This post highlights the SRT8 Jeep Cherokee. Jeep traditionally makes rugged, well tested vehicles that can handle the roads under any condition. In the case of the SRT8 Cherokee it can do that at 100 mph if need be. The base model for the Cherokee is the "Laredo" features a 3.7 liter V6 engine that you would expect out of a Jeep. However the SRT8 version packs a 6.1 liter Hemi V8 that puts down 425 horsepower to the wheels. The SRT8 Cherokee will get you to 60 mph in under five seconds with no trouble at all. It is supported by a sport-tuned suspension and has four-wheel drive just incase you decide to take it off road. The SRT8 Cherokee is outfitted with 20 inch rims that set it apart from other Cherokees and let drivers on the road know your driving something special. The SRT8 Grand Cherokee is a great way to experience some real speed and also embarrass unsuspecting drivers at a redlight.

This is a video of the SRT8 Jeep smoking a Corvette at the drag strip.
